[3] At number three - No Country For Old Men. Yes Tommy Jones, Yes that spanish hitman, Yes some good plots - but what the hell was this movie about. Cats chasing mice would have been better. From the time the money is found till the time mr hitman breaks his arm, this movie just keeps rambling along, and goes straight for the anti-climax. This looked like some director's wanderlust or his high school project.
[2] At #2 - Only because she is married to the actor does it even make it past a B-grade movie. It epitomizes everything that an aspiring documentary should be, and a mainstream movie should not. In Pune - we would have kept it for Liberty or Vasant cinema. If you still have not guessed, the movie is Dhobi Gha(a)t. Let me take my earlier words back - this should have been a small segment in the DD News on some regional channel.
[1] And at #1. In toastmasters, there is a saying, let your speech be like a dog and not like a snake. A dog has a definite beginning transitioning into a body and then transitioning into a defined endpoint - everything that a snake does not. This is true for the above movies, but is taken to a whole new level by There Will Be Blood. Someone please explain why head bashing with a bowling pin is a climax? Yes that is a spoiler for those who still wanted to see this movie. Terrible to be kind to it.
